While I would love to give this hospital a good review, this is tough. I have had 2 bad experiences. The last involved going in to check to see if I had a broken bone from a horse kick. The triage nurse checked me in and and sent me to the waiting room. I returned to her and requested a bag of ice which had not been offered. I then waited for roughly 2 hours before I was called back. In the next waiting area, I heard nurses laughing discussing how they had to go to the waiting room to see if one visitor was sleeping or dead. Not exactly the chatter you would hope to hear in a hospital. I received good service once I was seen by the doctor. However, the billing process at Roper is a mess. Upon receiving a lump sum bill, I requested a breakdown which I was finally sent however it only had 2 items instead of one lump sum. It took me several months to find someone to help me understand these charges, and all they did was provide another code and not a true understanding of the charges. Needless to say, when there is an emergency you head to where you can receive care the quickest, but I would not return to this hospital unless no other option existed. I have concern for the nurse's treatment of patients and the lack of coordination in the billing department.

Easy to find on Google Maps. Explored early on a Sunday morning before the Charleston tourist come out. This is Roper St. Francis Hospital downtown location. I came to see what entrances are open, and the parking garage to go to when I come there in a few weeks for surgery. I found what I was looking for, compared to what the nurse was trying to tell me over the phone. Her directions were so confusing. I suggested to her that it would be best just to go downtown by navigating with Google Maps on a Sunday when there’s rarely any traffic. Here are some pictures to see and follow.

THEY ARE AWESOME! My 87 year-old father was transferred here during the pandemic and not allowed to have visitors. Someone from the staff called us every day to let us know how he was coming along. They were informative and extremely cordial. Day or middle of the night, they had comforting bedside manner and eased our minds to know he was in their care. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! A million times we thank you. We appreciate your entire staff for taking care of our Dad, and keeping us well informed. YOU ARE THE BEST!

Terrible. Awful. Do not have a CT scan there under any circumstances. Had a heart CT scan there last week. They shouted at me, rushed me, were abrupt with me, were nasty to me, and were overall enormously inconsiderate to me. It was so bad that a person in the waiting room commented to me as I was leaving. I was a combination of very angry and very upset for days. I have filed and will continue to file grievances and complaints against them to every entity I can think off. I sent a letter to the CEO, certified mail, to his home address Saturday. I instructed my cardiologist never again to suggest that I go there. I had essentially the same experience with them when I had a MRI 8 years ago. Essentially, this was a repeat

Cleanliness in a hospital is essential and unfortunately this hospital missed the mark completely. Likewise they made it obvious they were about making money vs accepting the wishes of their patient and family members and doing everything they could as health so called professionals.
