After a significant wait while picking up the car I was unhappy to hear that since we’d be dropping off the car early in the morning before shop hours we’d have to take a cab to the airport. Today we went through a check stop in Borden Carlton and realized that the inspection of the car was up in June. We contacted ace/discount and was told to return the vehicle and to make sure it was fuelled up for an exchange. The customer service was horrid as they made it seem as we were doing them a disservice by asking for a car that was inspected. Never even received so much as a “sorry for the inconvenience” Would not recommend this company even if the prices are cheaper. This company does not even deserve the 1 star they are receiving.

Just make sure that you will be arriving and leaving Charlottetown within their operating hours. This is actually managed by Discount company. You call them on arrival and the pick you up within 15 minutes, then it takes 5 minutes to do the paper work at their office. So, we were picked up and dropped off at the airport. Friendly and smooth service.
This office does not exist! If you are coming in from a cruise ship and thinking this would be a convenient location to book a rental car from, don't do it! Your car will actually be located at the office by the airport, which is run by Discount Car and Truck Rentals. Book through them instead and they will send a free shuttle to the cruise terminal to pick you up. I'm not going to be booking through ACE again after the awful experience I had.
Zero star! Stay away from this company!! Made a reservation through Expedia and we have never seen such a bad service. Long wait at the airport for the shuttle, just one employee to do the shuttle and paper work while other clients wait at the airport. When we returned the office was closed (Sunday 3pm!!)and we had to wait 20 minutes under the rain for a taxi ride that cost each passenger 21!!!
If I could give zero stars - I would have. Ace/Discount Rent-A-Car in Charlottetown, PEI has the worst customer service that I have ever experienced in my travels. We rented a car through TD-Expedia (specifically rented a minivan as we are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 5 years old - with 3 large car seats) and when we arrived at the airport (excited to start our vacation in PEI), I called for the shuttle, gave my name and was informed that they didn't have a van. Instead, the representative said over and over "I can provide you with a Toyota RAV 4". I told him, over and over, that we rented a minivan for a reason, chose their company specifically because they could provide the minivan, and that we could not fit into a small SUV (3 large car seats and a stroller make anything but a huge SUV or minivan impossible). I asked the rep why they would have allowed a client to rent a vehicle that they do not even have and he repeated like a robot "we can provide you with a RAV 4". At no time was an apology given, at no time would the rep connect me with his manager (who had left for the day and apparently did not want to support her staff in any way), at no time did the rep provide me with any option that we could actually accept. I asked if perhaps they could offer to cover our taxi to the accommodation and then provide the minivan in the morning, but he repeated "I can provide you with a RAV4". You'd think that in PEI, where everyone I have met has been kind and accommodating, that staff at a tourist business would know to 1) apologize and 2) actually provide an option that the client could accept.
I arrived at the airport in Charlottetown after a flight delay. When I called ACE they advised me that since I had arrived more than 2 hours after my scheduled arrival time, they had no car for me.......as I quickly found out, all of the other rental car places also had no availability. The person on the phone advised that the. two hour reservation limit appeared on my rental agreement. I had rented through Expedia and my agreement made no reference to this limitation. I have no idea about what I am going to do......
I made a reservation online with ACE for a week long trip to PEI. When I arrived at the airport, I called the shuttle and was told they would not be able to honour my reservation, there would not be a car available for another week (I'd be gone by that time) and that they could put me on a waiting list but there were about 30 people ahead of me. Talk about throw a wrench into vacation plans! All of the rental car companies were sold out so we were stranded at the airport. Worst experience ever with a rental car company.
Booked a car in advance with Ace, we arrived 2 hours after the scheduled pick up time. Upon arrival, they told us we were late so our car was given to someone else. They had no other vehicles available and told us we could make another reservation and go on a waitlist. What's the point of a reservation if they don't reserve your car?? We will never book with this company again.
