Almost identical experience as Steve Wills who also left a review. Unprofessional, discussed our case with people who weren't privy, over billed, went out of his way to appease the opposing councils every demand. We lost a large sum of money at his direction. Like Wills said, you're better going at it yourself. Custody cases are always decided according to the GAL's recommendation, they know this, and take extreme advantage of it. Good news is, for anyone reading, he had to close up shop.

hired them to represent me in a custody case, told them my budget, i was assured it was going to be enough to complete my case, then once hired getting a response from emails or phone calls was next to impossible, the GAL assigned to the case kept having to call me because they were not responding to her either. Gave them a retainer of 2500, received one bill showing that I had only used have of it, but they were showing i only had less than half of my retainer credited to me and asking me for more money, left multiple messages and emails to find out where the rest of my retainer was, never answered, finally, because I used all the money i had to hire them, i was forced to negotiate a settlement on my own, when i sent them the notice that they didn't represent me anymore (GAL wouldn't talk to me until i did because they were supposed to be "representing me") it took them 2 weeks to even acknowledge they received it, and then it was lies and excuses, i asked for the rest of my retainer back since I only got 1 invoice showing i had used only half of what I gave them, they, all of a sudden had all these invoices I was never sent that made no sense and listed the same thing multiple times, and said i was actually out of money, when i first met with them, i was told, that because i was referred to them, i would receive an hourly rate of 250 instead of 300, but none of the invoices reflected that, and when i questioned them, they acted like they had no idea what i was talking about. the settlement i got, i could have completely gotten with out them, as it was basically the same as the GAL's recommendation, get a real lawyer and don't go to this chop shop, they clearly only care about getting retainers and nothing else

You can make your own mind up. The following was taken from Virginia Lawyers Weekly and there is more like this. Lawyer accused of dishonesty accepts 3-year suspension By: Peter Vieth August 29, 2019 A Chesapeake attorney facing three separate bar complaints, all involving multiple rule violations including alleged false statements to the Virginia State Bar, has agreed to a three-year license suspension. Barry R. Taylor was accused of lapses in his bank accounts and prolonged delays in two personal injury disbursements. The bar said his explanations did not hold water. Taylor “knowingly made false statements of material fact to the VSB regarding his trust account” and in regards to two disciplinary matters, according to a March 19 discipline subcommittee determination. The bar also accused Taylor of “dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation which reflects adversely on his fitness to practice law.” The VSB Disciplinary Board approved an agreed disposition for the three-year suspension beginning Aug. 22. The VSB was represented by Assistant Bar Counsel Christine Corey. Taylor was represented by Alexandria attorney Marvin D. Miller.
