Visited for a Christmas tree festival, just off the cuff. It was really nice, ask the cathedral was open to look around with Christmas trees decorated by various schools and services. They also had a ginger bread model of the cathedral, and a Lego one too. The gift shop had some nice items for reasonable prices. Very nice visit and I felt relaxed and peaceful.

Lovely cathedral which dates back to 1093, but the site itself is believed to be a place of Christian worship from Roman times. From the outside it may not appear as grand or even as pleasing to the eye of that of say York Minster, but the inside looks great. With craftsmanship to be admired, the skill of the structure to be respected and the feel of the building to be blessed, from its great old stone columns right to the stained glass windows. A well worth place to visit while in Chester, its not just a lovely building, but also full of history, there is also a very good gift shop, a cafe, toilets, plus admission is free and only asking for a small donation. Very much well worth a visit

It's always a pleasure visiting this cathedral. I'm not religious at all, and yet I still find myself really happy to have the chance to return. The architecture is beautiful. There's always interesting, often powerful (and usually secularly-themed) art displayed, sometimes with local relevance. The staff are always friendly, and you receive a very warm welcome even just as an obvious sight-seer. I can only imagine this cathedral has a lot to offer to a Christian, but even to an atheist such as myself, there's so much to see and read that's fascinating.

Went to see the Christmas tree festival. You have to book. It costs2.50. there is a map for kids to follow the trail and answer questions. The cathedral is so beautiful and it was very safe. Lovely Christmas event, definitely recommend
