I was a weekly regular at Trader Joe’s Chesterfield. I am so sad to say I will never return. I got there when they opened today (my last visit was one week ago) and the lady outside handing out carts said that my newly 2 year old would need to wear a mask. This was new. I said okay, but I did ask what would happen if she took it off. She told me as long as I tried it would be okay. We entered, I put the mask on my 2 year old, within 15 seconds she took it off. I tried another mask. Same situation. I kept trying to get her to put it on and she kept tearing it right off. I quickly tried to get as much as my shopping done as possible without causing a scene. Every single employee I passed stared at me and my child. I was extremely uncomfortable as I knew we were being judged and talked about. One man approached me and asked if I needed a child sized mask. I told him thank you, but I had one and she was still taking that one off too. She’s 2. She isn’t required to wear one at school. This is new to her. I started to get upset. As I was walking toward the register to get out as fast as I could, I was approached by (what I believe was) a manager. She asked if she could borrow my time. I told her I knew she needed a mask, she’s only 2 and I was trying. She said “yes I know, but if another customer sees and complains we will have to ask you to....” I stopped her there. At this point other customers were now staring at us. I told her we would never come back. Thank you, Trader Joe’s Chesterfield for singling out me and my daughter, making me uncomfortable, make me feel like a bad person, bringing me to tears and ruining my day. I fully support the mask mandate, but at some point you have to realize, as I mom, I’m doing my damn best.

Every time my wife and I travel to St. Louis area we make it a point to Stop at Trader Joe's. The selection of unique items here are not available in central illinois. My best estimate is I normally buy 50-100 in snack items. First time at this location. And found the store to be inviting and easy to navigate the isles.

My friendly neighborhood TJ'S! The staff is stellar & all-knowing. Maria is the kitchen area, Kyle, Genti, Fuji, my dear Gina, Chris, Zach and others are all such a pleasant part of my daily shopping experience. Assisting with a smile when I need wine suggestions, vegan options or to know what's hot off the frequent flyer press...I can reply on the TJ'S team to guide me in the right direction. They make me feel appreciate, welcome & valued as a customer.
