Absolutely STUNNING PLACE whether you are believer or not. It is very suggestive place in the mountains in province of Arezzo (Tuscany). It consists of couple of buildings of sanctuary, church, chapels, place where Saint Francis received the stigmas, small museum, shop. You can feel strong spirituality and huge peace there. When i entered the church, one of Franciscan monk played the grand piano and I burst into tears without reason. We didn't planned this visit on our journey, we were with our dog, which was not a problem everywhere outside. Please pay attention, there is about 5-7 degrees colder in this valley, we suggest to take jumper or jacket with you. We ate local \piadinas\ in small bar near the parking place. Surely WORTH OF NEXT VISIT AGAIN.

A unique location. The history of this place is very antique and peculiar. In fact, Laverna was a paganic idol of ancient age. Was the protector of the thieves and the assassins living and hiding in the forest. After, the Monaster was builted and the place change name in La Verna. The Statue of San Franceso remember us the date of 1218 (hope i remwmber well), when he has received the sacred stimmate. The place is surrounded by a very fascinating forest, with very high trees. Up on the rocks, the place is very well defensed and solid. The restaurant, inside, in generous and very tasteful: whatever you will decide to eat, the prices will be very low and the taste ... very high ! Remember: it takes time to drive there and the street is not so comfortable, especially for children. But it is a must to be visit, in Italy. Absolutely.
