ArcActive is rated 3 out of 5 in the category automotive. Read and write reviews about ArcActive. ArcActive has developed a proprietary carbon fibre technology for lead acid batteries - AACarbon - that delivers vastly superior dynamic charge acceptance ("DCA") at low cost. We aim to help de-carbonise the global automotive industry by delivering a low-cost energy storage solution that is both effective at reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions, and which can be deployed quickly at a mass market scale. Micro Hybrid Vehicles will be the mass market car of the future... Many are predicting that by 2020, around 50% of all new cars sold each year - or 40m vehicles - will have stop-start and regenerative braking functionality. Lead Acid Batteries are the “starter battery” for virtually every mass market vehicle today. They are a proven, low cost product, but they can't meet the hybrid technology demands of tomorrow's cars. By employing a carbon fibre fabric as the structural and electrical framework for the negative electrode's active material and by processing this fabric through a continuous plasma-arc, ArcActive delivers a lead acid battery with sustained, superior DCA. Moreover, ArcActive's electrode has been designed to be a direct replacement to existing negative electrodes in flooded lead acid batteries. ArcActive's technology can therefore leverage off the huge production capacity for lead acid batteries globally and retain a low cost leadership position. From it's Christchurch, New Zealand location, ArcActive is now working with Automotive OEM's and battery manufacturers around the world to commercialise its technology.
