Since 2003 The Nut Point has been developed from an art Studio/Gallery of John Allan’s Clay sculpting, to a vibrant arts centre, hosting the Annual West Melton Art Event, solo Art Exhibitions & Art Collections. Over the last 8 years, the centre has been organising and hosting Classical Chamber Music as well as Jazz Music & other performing arts events, al incorporated in an annual programme of over 25 art and music events a year divided into the different genres series. One of the series of each annual programme is, dedicated entirely to promoting young musicians from all key music schools that Canterbury has to offer. Collaborating with the Music School of the University of Canterbury, University of Auckland, as well as the Christchurch School of Music, the specialist music programme at Burnside High School and other high preforming Music Teachers Students Concerts. All through its activity of wide collaboration with different organisations the Centre is continuing its activity with Charity Fund Raisers, supporting animal welfare as well as its activity in establishing native plants on its premises .
