Kindly took in a gull yearling who had got horribly tangled in fishermens hooks and a lure. Passing rescuers had cut free the line in its throat and cut the hook in its foot. On a follow up call intended to provide more info I was efficiently informed that nothing found in xray and bird on its way to wildlife rescue centre for recovery. I was not charged for post rescue work. Extreme Covid-19 precautions were in place. I think the receptionist meant to say that the barbed hook fragment in its foot had been carefully removed, but was probably under extreme pressure at that time. Privately I think the young birds chances were very slim indeed not least due to stress. A good effort by many people including a delivery driver from Brazil who freed the bird somewhat and a lady from Grange Road who carefully netted and boxed it to my astonishment. Edit: Apparently the gull did well and was released at Mudeford Quay after three weeks or care at the wildlife rescue home. Thank you to everyone involved.
