Christchurch, New Zealand
66-26 Rapaki Road, Hillsborough
N/A
I've lived on Christchurch the majority of my life and as a big fan of New Zealands walks, I thought it was time to see why the Rapaki is so popular. I went through some of the reviews and after reading one that stated that it was their favourite walk, I thought I was in for a treat. Unfortunately I have come to the conclusion it is a favored walk for the fitness payoff because essentially it is a gravel road the majority of the walk with hills in the distance. This is a 3 star walk in a fitness sense as there is far more rigorous tracks in Nz. A 1 star track for what I came for, which is for the beauty of my country, of which you can get far better payoffs without even having to go much farther.

Very nice track for bikes and to walk. I was on the track and just wanted to go to the top. The views are awesome and you can see some of my clicks posted.
Nice easy constant track, one of the most popular. Parking can be challenging on the access road
Great place for a bit of exercise. Would be even better if there was a drinking fountain at the top. Great views
A nice climb up the port hills on a 4wd track that is popular with runners, walker and mountain bikers. The climb is broken into two stages with a flat and shorty downhill in the middle. There is a 5km loop MTB track that goes off to the left at the beginning of the flat section. There is also a single track that goes to the top from the start of the loop track. Be careful as you head back down if you're on as bike as it is a popular track.
it is good.... but in hot weather...there's no trees or shade to avoid bright, strong sun shine. and the road...it is very rough road with small rocks and asphalt scraps. They affect to your knees and ankles. be aware of that. i prefer short walks through the woods or park walks.
This track is for intermediate to expert bikers. It is a steep track with different path to godly, Sumner and different exciting bike tracks. You can also jog or walk in different tracks in the main track and also in the unique paths in the side of the trail.
Easiest of the walks on the Port Hills, with views only of the city until you get to the top. Shingle road, walkers have to contend with mtb'ers flying down. Good views over to Lyttleton Harbour, but why not walk the Mt Vernon Ridge Track and look down on everything? Bike free!
