We recently dined at Shop Eight and we just bloody loved it. When we arrived Alex the chef was hanging freshly made pasta and the manager Liz, was printing out the new menu. The interior is highly original with many of the furnishings from the brilliant Rekindle. Alex’s food is locally sourced. He took time to explain his philosophy to us even though he was busy. The food itself was imaginative and perfectly cooked. We had pork belly and my friend had the fresh pasta dish. It was one of the best meals we’ve had in a long while. The small size of the restaurant means you get talking to interesting people as well as the restaurant’s staff. Great food, great service and an inspiring atmosphere.

The food dishes are very thought out and so tasty! A great place with friends for a few wines. Best was the salted caramel mousse dessert. The staff are very friendly also. So good, we are going back in 2 weeks time.
Absolutely loved eating dinner here! The staff was extremely kind and really helped us decide what to eat. The food was so incredibly delicious! Don't skip out on dessert! My favorite part! I will definitely be back here to eat before I leave New Zealand.
I stumbled on this excellent little place in my aimless wandering around town. The food was really original, local and tasty. Small portions but priced well. House white wine was top class. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Ended up meeting the owner and the designer of the furniture, and having a great night out! It left me sensing a positive and vibrant direction that Christchurch could redevelop. All power to them! Don't hesitate to check it out, even if for a coffee or drink.
Honestly thought this would be an uptight hipster organic place. Amazing food with fabulous suggestions for a table full of allergies. Highly recommend!
We had most of the menu (some of it twice)....yum. Our 6 year old ate everything we did and loved it. Fabulous atmosphere and fast service. Couldn't recommend it more highly.
