We elected to use a travel agent for the first time in 30 years for our two week stay in New Zealand. After contacting a few agents we decided to use Kirsti Butler at Westside. She was very helpful and tolerant of several changes to the itinerary that we made. She made several excellent suggestions that we would not have thought of that greatly improved our trip and the accommodations she selected were just what we were looking for. The itinerary she provided was very detailed. One caveat: They require full payment in advance via wire transfer. While I’m sure most world travelers are familiar with this process, we experienced a problem with our local credit union (they sent US instead of the NZ amount). Fortunately, Westside helped us obtain a refund. If you anticipate a trip to the South Island I recommend you contact Westside to assist you with your trip planning. Just make sure you understand the financial arrangements up front.
