A very well preserved medieval castle. An impressive construction with large walls and a beautiful interior. Inside you will find the beautiful Apocalypse Tapestry. The walk on the ramparts is also worth a visit, allowing you to see some impressive views on the city of Angers. Definitely worth the time spent there. The castle and a city visit can be done in a day trip from Paris, by train.

This is a very well maintained castle in the centre of Angers. The gardens, grounds and castle are very well looked after and well worth the visit. Also, there's a great market on in the city during the week.
3 times I visited this amazing place on 3 French exchange trips. Amazing! If you get the chance to visit don't pass it by.
Very impressive castle in means of restoration and size. Large walls and a nice garden, also some old parts to see from the early days. The tapestry museum is also worth the visit.
Amazing visit to this castle. We spent about 1.5 hours there in owe of everything. With it's 17 towers and walking on the walls feeling like game of thrones or lord of the rings.. The castle has several section to visit in and overall it's worth a drive if you're in the Luar Valley. Around the castle the old city is also beautiful to walk around. A great half a day-day visit
Didn’t have time to visite the whole thing but still i enjoyed the view, the building and its unique architecture. The carpet collection was magnifique !
A Unique Kind of Castles (at least for me) We didn't have a specific plan in Angers so we toured randomly, and reached this Castle. Its structure that seems like a well protected area, in addition to the space between the walls and the street are unique for me and it is nice how it is still in a very good condition, you can spend easily 2 hours there. And they also have inside the largest Apocalypse Tapestry in the world which was amazing and unexpected. I recommend everyone that passes in Angers to pass by this Castle.
If you don't know Angers, visit it! It's whort to come to this city with a nice medieval heritage. So is the Castle, which stands out 40m above the Maine river. A walk around the Castle gives you a good impression, when you enter the Castle you'll be overwelmed with beauty. Magnificent architecture, gardens and views over the area.
