Clayton High School is a bit of a bumbling mess. On one hand, you have that posh, elite experience of a private school, but with the struggles and pains that come with a public school. Top notch education, great facilities, but filled with students with the mindset that everything in life is to be handed to them. It's a good thing they perform so well, or else the BMW's they drive would be just for show.

Clayton High and in fact the entire district is ranked consistently tops in the state and one of the best in the country. Outstanding academics, clubs and sports especially when you consider the the school and district size. They field a full compliment of boys and girls teams on only 800 kids. Look at where their graduates get accepted to college and how many are national merit scholars. A public school that has private prep school outcomes!

Okay, who in the name of god thought it was a good idea to bring CHROMEBOOKS in the classroom? For one, they are awful computers. The operating system, the touchpad, EVERYTHING about chrome books SUCKS. If your education system is unsuccessful,, giving everyone shiny chrome books and telling them to go on google classroom isn’t going to enhance their learning experience. Spend the school budget improving the actual education system, not fancy laptops which no one wants to use anyway.

students are treated as a number, not individuals, which is shocking as they have the smallest class size in the public HS in STL. impossible to reach counselors or administration. They want to claim to be as good as the independent private secondary schools in STL, but the private schools actually know and care about their students. we used Clayton for High school and our student was in private schools before and he was a part of a community. if you haven't been in Clayton school s since pre kindergarten, you will always be a little on the outskirts of the community. I trusted them to not let my son slip through the cracks and was gravely disappointed. there is a lack of professionalism among the administration. They are awkward at best at communication with families.
