I am Joel Clayton's great-great grandson. I am indebted to the CHS for doing genealogical research on Joel and finding where in England he lived until 1839. We visited the village, formed life-long friendships with the English people. My wife, Jerilyn, and I recently moved to Danville, and upon visiting the Museum of San Ramon Valley (housed in the Danville Depot) learned that Joel was instrumental in establishing the San Ramon Branch of the Southern Pacific Railroad.
