Wow this place has changed over the years. We hadn't been in a very long time and were happy to see that not only was it still open, but it's thrived. The market area is a nice way to wait for a table. All the sweets looked and smelled so delicious. Our lunch was great, the chicken salad as good as I remember, and my husband loved his Bologna crunch sandwich. Very pleasant lunch, nice staff and good service. Only disappointment was that the hours on Google were incorrect. We didn't get to sample the breakfast the next day on our way home.

A lovely combination between the cafe and market. Whether you're in a hurry or have a while to relax for gourmet home-cooking, the Cafe and Market have both. A hallmark of Clayton right on the square (can't miss the neon sign) with friendly staff and now a market with coffee, to-go food, wine/beer and a large selection of unique merchandise. Parking can be a little hard to come by on Main Street, but there are free public lots just north of Main Street and directly in front of City Hall. A must visit if you're in Clayton, but don't be surprised if there's a wait. #eatlocal
Quite possibly the best burger I've ever had- and I've had lots of burgers! Also had the Reuben and fried green tomatoes, everything was incredible. If I was a local I would come here all the time! WOW burger has a fried green tomato, pimento cheese, and bacon.
I visited the market yesterday and purchased a large iced lavender latte. The latte rang up at 5.25 while the menu over the barista's shoulder clearly states a large latte (with syrup) is 4.50. When I mentioned the discrepancy, the barista adjusted the price without much issue, although the price was still over 4.50. I decided to let it go. Customers can fairly clearly observe baristas as they prepare drinks. As I watched my drink being made, I did not witness any espresso shots pulled for my beverage, but I did witness the barista take a pitcher of a dark liquid (what I assume to have been iced coffee (not a latte ingredient)) from the fridge and splash it into my drink, like a topper. My drink had a coffee flavor to it, albeit very subtle.. almost like iced coffee with a ton of milk and some flavored syrup. I write this review in such detail because this isn't the first time I've had sub-par beverages from this place and as a coffee-making business, lattes shouldn't be an issue. Some re-training of sorts might be needed for baristas. Also, staff were technically wearing masks, but noses were not covered. The Google profile for this location says they wear masks, but not as they should be worn. This effectively makes me, as a customer, feel like the staff does not prioritize their own safety or the safety of customers during this time. I understand wearing masks all day long/during a shift can get old fast, but it's the new normal and it's the least we can do to keep everyone safe.
This is the best restaurant on the planet. The southern cuisine is amazing and the choice of veggies and casseroles is large and they are all delicious. The owner and staff are very friendly. The Market side has great coffee, beer and wine. The wine bottles for purchase are top notch.
