Ordered Spinach & Pepper and Ham & Cheese rolls. They essentially were small loaves of artisan bread with ingredients "rolled" into a small loaf. They were still warm, about as fresh you can get! The Ham & Cheese roll was delicious. The Spinach & Pepper roll, needed a little extra "something." They cheerfully provided complimentary cream cheese to round out the serving. Fresh brewed unsweetened Iced Tea rounded out today's noon repast. The Young Bean coffee shop is housed in vintage brick, row building on Main Street in Clayton, DE; a small town reminiscent of Norman Rockwell paintings. There's more than a handful of tables in the rustic space for coffee, conversation or to enjoy your favorite reading material. The enthusiastic staff, were friendly, efficient and engaged with customers as if they were neighbors. They told me that Friday evenings people gathered for cards or board games. There were over half a dozen people happily chattering in their various groups as I enjoyed my lunch. A delightful place!

I am new to town and was greeted by friendly smiley faces! The Young Bean has a great cozy atmosphere with some amazing pieces of history inside. Friday afternoon/evenings they will have local musicians playing....sounds like a fantastic work week closer! Coffee was outstanding. Next time I will try some of the baked goods!! Love this place. It's a nice quiet little coffee shop. The cakes and pastries are always top quality, as well as any drink you could order, and the people in here are always very nice!
The owner is friendly and welcoming. Patiently takes orders even from a large group like ours. The pastries are homemade, the expresso and coffee is excellent, and my kids’ favorite is their milkshake. Highly recommend you stop in!
I could spend all day here. Comfy chairs, good atmosphere, friendly staff and the coffee is tasty. It's fresh roasted out back. The cakes and shakes are great too
The shop is so cozy. I recently started buying the Ethiopian beans so I could make it at home. So much better than the maxwell house I had been using.
Great coffee at a beautiful, historic location. Well worth the drive. They're closed now. Don't waste the drive.
Great environment. From staff, to decor. The coffee is tasty, the baked goods are tasty. And the specialty drinks are GREAT.
