Great difficult hike gaining 2000 feet in 2 miles. View from top is amazing. Do not hike on a hot day and bring lots of water. Wear good shoes with hiking tread, lots of steep slippery slopes and rock scrambling. Allow 3 hours up and down.

This is a hard hike, very strenuous, steep incline, loose gravel type soil, drop offs, but a great view at the top. You can see the whole valley below. Best to do early in the morning during warm weather. Bring plenty of water. Hiking poles can help.
Fun hike, for those with not regular, or much experience to hiking, this is a very difficult incline (feels like a long way) though it's only 2 miles. Things to consider: It's also not shaded much along the way. Good sturdy hiking shoes recommended especially for the return down the mountain. I did it in running shoes with some decent grip tread and didn't slip too much, but they were a bit loose and allowed for too much foot movement by the time I was back at the starting point.
Strenuous hike both up and down. Not recommend for big dogs and black dogs due to almost zero shade and zero water. It's about 1900 feet of gain in less than 2 miles.
It is a great hike except the entrance. The entrance is horrible and is always filled with a puddle of water that goes up to the windows of regular sedans. The front entrance is also in the middle of nowhere and is hard to find without asking anyone. Other than that it has beautiful views, is an easy hike, it is hard not to love. I hike it all the time with my track team and it is fun. You see a lot of people up there and if you're lucky you might even see the wild horses. The hike is about 3 hours round trip.
