My friend and I took surf lessons with Edgardo. Edgardo is an excellent teacher: very patient and with great pedagogy, he teaches you how to feel safe in the water first as well as the technique. Already on the second lesson, we were able to stand on the board and take some small waves. After 7 lessons and with good weather conditions, we could go for the big waves and that is so much fun!! I would definitely recommend taking surf lessons with this school. We didn’t stay in the hotel but Edgardo and Jessica were very friendly and helpful every time we had questions about the local life in Santa Teresa. So do not hesitate, from beginners to more advanced surfers, you won’t regret it

Lolo and Jessie are amazing hosts- they welcome you intro their home and help to make your stay in Costa Rica as enjoyable as possible. The location is great right downtown and in walking distance from the beach, restaurants and nightlife.
We showed up without having a reservation. Not a problem at all. Cocobolo is such a lovely place. We felt welcomed and at home as soon we arrived. Thank you so much for everything. You will be always our first choice in this place. All the best to you guys
I don't believe in occasionalities and entering with my brother in Cocobolo's is one of those things! There we met our local family for the past month - Lalo, Jessica and their dog Oso that will follow you all the way to the beach for your surf classes. Lalo is the most calm and professional person who we could have met, he worked hard on my fear from the water and the waves. I popped up on the board already at my first lesson! His cheerful wife Jessica will be around the guest house and their small cafeteria for you and will make you feel like home. There you can recharge the batteries with a smoothie, ice-cream or home made ceviche and more. If you still have energy you can rent a bike or ask them to organize your day activities and trips.. and for the full experience you can rent the only Tuk-tuk in town and explore further areas and beaches. They got the perfect location close to playa Carmen, restaurants, banks, medical services, etc. Love you, guys! You are my pura vida! \u200d️
Very clean and comfortable rooms with ac, fan, mini fridge. Nice shower and washrooms. Staff were super nice and helpful. They also were extremely great to book a surf lesson with as well as our way back to San Jose. Highly recommend this place.
I stayed at Cocobolos for 3 months. La Lo and Jessica were the perfect hosts. Very professional in every aspect and helped me out in every way possible . They organized tour to a volcano,canopy tour, fishing trip and La Lo taught me how to surf. They made me feel like one of their family and took me to the rodeo and other local events and activities. I will definitely return to Cocobolo in December and recommend it to anyone visiting the Mal Pais/Santa Teresa area of Costa Rica.
Cocobolo is a great place run by a fabulous local couple. Jessica and her family helped me out immensely during my visit. I would highly recommend contacting them when in Santa Teresa - whether it is for a nice place to stay at their guesthouse, surf lessons or advice on what to do in the area. Plus she has a sweet tuk tuk which only adds to the good vibes at Cocobolo.
It’s a nice and clean guest house. The owners, Jessica and Lalo, are super friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. It’s very close to the beach. There are also good restaurants around. I can highly recommend Cocobolo Guest House. If you wanna learn to surf, then just ask Lalo. He is an amazing instructor. Have fun!
