About ten years ago, after looking at dozens of towns and hundreds of houses, my husband and I found the darling little village of Coldwater! It has everything I wanted, close to the highway, walkability to shops, Post Office, library,etc..but MAINLY! It had a YARN SHOP! At 58, I still did not know how to knit and I desperately wanted to learn, so basically we bought our house because of The Purple Sock! All kidding aside, we have never looked back...the village is lovely, but The Purple Sock has become a haven, of fabulous yarns, books, teas, and more than that, of friends! Not only have I learned to knit quite well, but I have also learned to spin, have taken many, many classes, given a few classes myself, helped out the owner, Lynn ( who has become a dear friend!) and just basically, found a hobby that has enriched my life in so many ways! The yarns Lynn carries are without compare, she specializes in Canadian yarns, but also carries yarns from around the world...everyone is so helpful, the Sit & Stitch on Wednesday and Thursdays mornings are a highlight, and the Sit and Spin on Friday mornings has become a part of my routine now...it is a cozy, comfy shop and although I travel a fair bit and see all kinds of shops, I have never come across one as warm and welcoming as The Purple Sock!!
