Awesome little shop! Found a great deal on an old Chaos Comics ornament.

Ms. Jo knows me as the guy from Austin and I come about oneo every six months when I'm in town on business and she remembers me every time and has been nothing but sweet to me. I'm not family nor a close friend but I keep going to get store because her stuff is in such good condition and she actually takes pride in quality of back issues which to a collector is everything. I thank her for always keeping an eye out for what I'm looking for.
Always helpful and I don't think there's a comic she hasn't read. I sometimes go months/years without visiting and she still remembers my past purchases.
Even if Lytle's is one of the only places in town to get comics, I can honestly say that I would never go anywhere else. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and always happy to answer my questions. Her selection is amazing for her shop being so small, and she always tries her best to carry some of the more rare variants. Her prices are always fair. Also has a great graphic novel section! Highly recommended!
Ms. Jo has been a staple of the comic book community for years. She is knowledgeable, an avid collector, and helpful if you ask. Yes, she can be standoffish/leery in the beginning, but if you show earnest interest, she will help you. She has been able to track down some old comics for friends in the past, has extensive and good advice for painting minis, and she will point you in the right direction for comics if you ask. What she doesn't like is loiterers (she has been accosted before), people who damage merchandise (for you, picking up a comic is no big deal, but for others, they want clean and pristine books), and thieves (there have been numerous thefts at past locations). Contrary to what others have said, Ms. Jo DOES like kids. She just wants parents to respect that the shop she runs caters to those who view her items as collectibles. She doesn't want things ripped/broken/fingerprints all over the glass. We have taken our daughter in before without problem and made sure that she didn't touch anything out of respect for the items in store. Ms. Jo asks after her and has seen her as a tiny infant too. The number one thing with Ms. Jo is be mindful/respectful. I understand she is running a business, but it's also something close to her and as a real fan of the geekdom, she is protective of her wares. If you go to Barnes and Noble, you can get a new comic that's been obviously read/handled by multiple people. Not everyone wants that. When you buy from Ms. Jo, it's an item that has been treated with guarded care and is truly yours.
Sometimes when I read the reviews here I feel like I'm visiting a different shop! I used to buy my comics from Hastings until they closed down and started going here. After about a month, the owner learned my name and my fiancee's and recognized us when we'd walk in. She does pull lists and can put your comic in a lovely bag/board to keep it straight. Did you know comics work wildly different from books? You have to order them 2 months in advance and rarely are able to order them after that period. Comics also can't be returned to the publisher for a refund like a book so a damaged comic due to a customer becomes a waste to the shop. Many people blame this on Diamond Distributors (which has a virtual monopoly) but that's a story that doesn't belong on a review! Understanding this, it can be easy to see why a comic shop owner could get upset when someone grabs a comic with pretzel grease fingers or drops one hard back onto the shelf. Comics are also pretty expensive. A basic Marvel Comic costs about 4 (price set by Marvel) and about 10 issues are released a week. And that's just Marvel! The owner has been in business for years and the comic shop business is a tough love. I love going here and while I can't speak for the other reviews here, I personally enjoy visiting. Just keep your hands clean, handle the comics a little more gently, and ask plenty of questions. That's what I did!
I love Lytle's. The Lady is so nice and helpful, giving tips on painting, etc.
Have been going here for comics weekly for almost a year now. Have gotten everything I've wanted and more and the owner is very friendly and knowledgeable once you start talking to her. She has a wide variety of Marvel/DC/Vertigo comics including weekly/monthly publications and volumes. Have had her order many things and gotten them within the week. She sells figurines and other little goodies that are fun to collect. Definitely worth checking out if you are interested in weekly comic collecting
