Built by the engineering teams of Navy and Army and located in Bastian Mawatha in Pettah neighborhood is the Pettah Floating Market which floats on the shore of Beira Lake. It’s should definitely be visited once you are in Colombo to get a unique experience. Calm waters of Beira Lake and the colorful people and stalls give a pleasant vista. It is perfectly suited with the waters on one side and shops on the other and with the frequent whistles of train. Both the Fort Bus-stand and the railway station is adjacent to this market. There are nearly hundred stalls selling local handicrafts, jewelry, kottu, vegetables, fruits clothes, electronics etc. The West end entrance leads to Testa Bake House which offers delicious baked items. This place has an aura about it which calls for a visit. Spend the weekend evenings with families enjoying the beautiful sights.
Not a like before. But there are Textile, Food and Beverage, Cosmetics, Electronics, Handcrafte.... so many stoles. You can buy your own. Main thing is Free and silent place. Because not crowded and not busy place in Colombo City. If you want to relief the World, welcome Pettah Floating Market. Close at least 10.00pm.
Nice view and environment. There are many shops. But only a few shops are open. As well as the price is very high in the food stores.
This place was very beautiful in the past.but currant situation is more sad.place not clean as well. But when u get off from colombo u cab get rest there.i were there to take my breakfast.there were some benches.u can take beautiful photographs here
Nice place also beautiful area. I more time visited there. Nice planning to this systems. Night time off. I visited night also there. Need clean to both site. That time very very top beautiful.
There are many stalls in this shopping complex both floating and fixed.But actual floating stalls are looked abandoned so long time.This attractive place should be reconstructed. Food stalls can not be recommended because they are making junk foods.
Earlier it was good place to have foods in peaceful environment, but now the place become bit dirty place.
