My father was in a hit and run accident. He was kept waiting on the side of the interstate for over 2 hours in the heat. He is 73 years old and going through chemo, and his car was so messed up he couldn't keep the motor running for the air conditioner. If he didn't have family in the area to call, he would not have had water. When an officer finally showed up, he was super nice and helpful, but I was really upset about the response time. You can't leave elderly people or people with health conditions sitting on the side of the road for so long in the SC heat without access to water or a means of cooling down. If we need to pay more taxes for more officers to keep up with the workload, it's worth it if it means people are helped in a timely manner.

Absolutely terrible and incompetent Trooper. When I received my FR-10, the information on the drivers vehicle that hit me was incorrect. How can that happen when the vehicle is right in front of you? I had to call the Trooper from my ER bed and tell him. He acknowledged he failed to verify the information he documented and then lied about why the info was wrong Good thing I had pictures of the accident. He advised me he would correct the information and provide me with an updated FR-10 within 2/3 days. Well that has been 13 days ago The Trooper nor his Corporal have returned my calls or my insurance company’s calls and I’ve had to use my insurance to get a rental and the repairs initiated on my car This does not sit well with me. If I could rate SC Hwy Patrol lower than 1️, I would. Thankful I have a good attorney.
Driving on route 26 toward a place for the solar eclipse and our tire went flat. Officer came by and protected us with his car. He also helped and basically changed the tire himself. Very helpful and polite. Absolute A experience and we made it to see the eclipse.
We have waited for over an hour for a state trooper that manages this jurisdiction to come to a car accident. There is another set of people here that have an accident and we are in the same parking lot and they have waited over an hour and 1/2 for the state trooper. The dispatch lady only told us the trooper is coming but is at another accident down the road. Well I am glad no one is dying because they would be dead!! Do you only have one state trooper that can assist with an accident on the same road?? If that is true South Carolina needs to relook their position on highway patrols or get more funding so that troopers can assist with accidents when they happen!! This is ridiculous. I will be writing the state senator about this. No concern for humanity or the general public for that matter. They consider us minor. Why is it only one trooper that can come to a call?
Worthless dispatch honestly. Y'all shut the road down but when someone calls they just say when they open the road they open the road, like ok you can't tell me noones has info on the closure. People have limited gas, or have places to be. I know y'all don't care but have some respect that's what we pay you for to do your job. Stop being vague and just guessing what's going on.
