I am one of the fortunate parents whose child got into Community Roots and it’s been a dream come true. From the administrators to the teachers to the curriculum, this is a school that really cares about the future they are creating by making sure that students are aware of the world they live in, are actively contributing to their community, and engaged in critical thinking about how to improve it. It is modest and “down-to-earth” but I believe it’s one of the best schools in New York City, which is being proven year upon year by their thought-leadership on progressive education and using the Charter system to improve standards across the country. The kids are supportive of one another and love going to school, learning about the world in way that inspires them to want to participate and be proud of their accomplishments.
