Overall the experience was acceptable with the circumstances. Really what could be a 5 experience with 2 spinal fractures within a year. 3 spinal surgeries overall. Basically fused/braces/screws, you name it, from C2 to T12 with 7 & 8 not fused but anchors. Excellent surgeons for that aspect of my "visits", I would rate the surgeons a 5. Dr. Roach has extremely poor bedside manor so if you need someone that listens well and understands chronic pain coupled with trauma pain, not the Dr. to see. Looking for a great surgeon without caring about bedside manor then he is a person to see. Dr. Hart is an excellent surgeon and has excellent bedside manor. Shows he cares for the patient and seems to understand the additional challenges associated with trauma and chronic pain as mentioned above. No, this clinic does not prescribe pain medication when it is not needed which I agree with. However, it also does not listen when stating an individual is in pain due to multiple surgeries, chronic pain coupled with the trauma. Put in my chart without my knowledge that I presented drug seeking behavior.... Not the case at all. This clinic, along with all others that I have been to, seems to be experiencing the guideline fear the Govmnt. has created when addressing pain management.

After years of living in pain, even after two back surgeries and a spinal infection, I’m pleased to report that after only a little over three weeks since my third surgery I’m feeling fantastic and can finally enjoy life again without pain, without drugs, and with full use of my legs. It’s like a gift. I feel blessed to have found Metropolitan Neurosurgery and been given a fresh start. Thank you with no words goes out to Dr. Nelson, Ashley, and the entire team at Metropolitan Neurosurgery and Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Your next oil change is on the house!

Dr Joseph Kapurch did a perfect C6-C7 fusion surgery in my neck over four weeks ago. Everyone at Metropolitan Neurosurgoens worked very hard to help speed up my surgery due to how much pain I was in. I want to recommend Dr. Joseph Kapurch for any and every recognition possible that he could achieve as a neurosurgeon. Prior to surgery I had so much nerve pain, the pain meds barely helped and I could barely function. When I woke up after surgery, my nerve pain was completely gone. Today I’m back to working full-time, doing all activities with my family and biking over 14 miles with ease. Thank you Dr. Kapurch for all your years of studying and hard work to do what you do best!!!

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with this office. I am still dealing with severe lower back pain that is effecting my left leg and my ability to walk or stand for long periods of time. I had 2 spinal injections, PT and yes medication...all of which have not eliminated my symptoms. So I decided to schedule a 2nd appointment at Metropolitan Neurosurgery with Dr. K.Uittenbogaard. He showed little concern for my issue. When I told him how severe the pain is and that I needed his help...he says we should still take a conservative approach and rights me a prescription for the same meds that did not work. What? I am in severe pain since Dec 2017. And you want to keep putting a bandaid on it. I asked him if we could do something else because I am still hurting. You know what he says...."Well what do you want me to do?" What??? I thinking you're the doctor that's why I came to see you. And he acted like I was not good enough to see him. So I said never mind. I was so angry and hurt. I called back to the office to file a complaint. He then calls me back and leaves a message stating that he has another possible solution that I could try. What???? Why didn't you provide that solution when I came to see you. Then I call back and speak to Wendy to see if I could see a different doctor for a second opinion. She tells me I can't do that. Well needless to say...I had to schedule another appointment with another neurosurgeon in a different network. I'm praying that I have a much better outcome and that I am treated with respect. That's what I pay insurance premiums for.
