I took my 15m old son to check his hearing and like some toddlers he wasn’t able to complete the behavioral test. However, I noticed he was very inconsistent looking to his left said and asked the audiologist about it. She said since my son didn’t complete the test the results were inconclusive. She checked his ears to measure fluids and had a hard time with one of them and told us not to worry because Dr. Patel would take a look. For our surprise Dr. Patel didn’t examine my son’s ears. He suggested to do an ARB and said that he would do a detailed examination then. My son fell asleep in my arms and for the SECOND time I asked if he didn’t want to take the chance and look at his ears. He said: no need! A few days later my son starts itching both ears and shaking his head. I took him to his pediatrician and he had a horrible double ear infection. We took him to another ENT and she found lots of fluids inside his ears. I called Dr. Patel’s office and ask the nurse to read the notes written about his exams and she told me that no signs of infection was found according to Dr. Patel. I am very curious to know how in the world he got to that conclusion without looking inside my son’s ears.
