Excellent 3/4 day hike for the average hiker. Moderately strenuous with beautiful scenery. Old growth forest is amazing.

No trash. Well maintained. Free. Authentic, rebuilt settlers cabin. Impressive mostly natural new tree bridge at the end of the trail. Great old growth forests. Some 400 year old hardwoods. No large crowds.

Maddron Bald Trail can be difficult to find. It is a fantastic trail though a little steep in some places, especially when carrying a heavy backpack. The Baxter Cabin and access to Albright's Grove are some of the major attractions of this trail. It is often a empty trail with few or no people using it in my opinion due to the difficulty finding the Trailhead. I happened to hike this trail with my daughter during the rain and I have to say it was not washed out or super muddy during inclement weather. Definitely a hidden gem of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Did Albright Grove Loop. Amazing to see the old trees and a patch of original forest in this area. Impressed.
