Used CSS to service our home burglar alarm system. Paid for the callout upfront when I booked and was advised that parts would cost extra. Engineer arrived promptly and was friendly. Alarm system required new batteries. I was not advised how much these would cost but given they were AA and AAA batteries I assumed it would be minimal. How wrong I was. I subsequently received an invoice charging 4.50 per battery. I thought this was an error and that I had been billed for multiple packets of 10 batteries so phoned CSS. I was told that the charge was indeed 4.50 per battery. When I queried this I was told that it was because they were industrial batteries. A quick google shows that you can buy a pack of 10 for 3.25. A very disappointing experience, would not recommend using CSS.

I really wish I had read the poor reviews regarding this company prior to having any dealings with them. I was with another company Triton whom CSS apparently bought over. My contract was transferred to them in 2017. The yearly maintenance for my alarm had been 85 when CSS took over last year it was 95 this year it rose by 50% to an incredible 138. These guys are complete rogues, the have a very alluring website which claims to have an ethos of customer service and satisfaction at the heart of it. What a complete load of rubbish, they are money grabbers who have clear communication issues within their office where they fail to communicate effectively with their customers. They claim to send renewal letters which customers don’t receive, then they tell you your previous contract is now obsolete and con you into signing a new one at an inflated price. (Even though only 2 months have passed) You have to constantly resend emails to request information regarding payment as no one ever answers. As an apprentice engineer undertook my maintenance for the year last week nov 2019, I have paid the 138 however I have given them in excess of 11 months notice that I wish to terminate my contract (their small print asks for 6 months) Surprisingly their manager has failed to respond to my emails advising them of all of the above, am I surprised NO! Yet another example of communication failure. It’s very interesting that when these letters to advise of your renewal at the previously lower price ‘go missing’ in the post poor Royal Mail get the blame, however the people who benefit from this missing mail is CSS as they then automatically inflate the price massively. Mmmnn where the letters ever posted in the first place? WARNING - find yourself a reputable company. One that can communicate effectively.
