The impressive gate, built in the early 18th century by Mughals which was destroyed during early 1900s, then rebuilt by Salar Jung 1 with a different architecture than the other gates in Hyderabad, is dressed in granite and is flanked on either side by octagonal tower bastions. It was one of the 13 gates present around the city and served as entry and exit points. I've attached both old and a new photo.
