Amazing school! I’ve heard lots of people complain about it, I I can’t find anything I don’t like about it. It’s nice and self paced, but still provides a good amount of support from teachers. Overall a great school, would recommend!

I do not recommend attending this school at all. I went to Summit Public Schools Shasta all 4 years and feel that I learned absolutely nothing. This school did not give the support to the students that was promised and most of all, did not act as a college prep school. As a student who is now attending college, I have realized how this school in no way has benefit my education. The system of "teaching yourself" only worked for a handful of students that attended the school. In addition the way of "testing" was completely awful. Because the school was far too individualized, students would be able to re take the test up to 25 times, without truly learning anything. The classes were all project based which meant each student working on their computer in science for 90 minutes. Not once did I ever receive a lecture and rarely understood a proper explanation of what I was missing during office hours. For the other students who could not teach themselves hard concepts such as chemistry or spanish, many reached out for the help. The quality of the teachers was extremely disappointing. Many of the teachers were so young and fresh out of college that they were learning new material along side the class and working through "stage fright" as teachers. Learning and teaching should be about explanations and working together - not uneducated teachers and confused students working on computers for 6 hours a day. I believe this system is far too new for any child to receive a proper education.

I don't want to write an essay even though there are so many great things to say so to summarize: Very student run --> student leadership qualities Self-paced education --> those who need extra help get it, those who want to soar ahead can soar Small school --> tight bonds teachers super energetic, caring, and amusing You come looking for a stepping stone to college but find yourself not wanting to leave (but you do because they've set you up for so much more).

While the current facility is pretty lackluster, the teachers and educational programs definitely make up for it.
