The lady friend and I did a guided kayak tour and had a wonderful time. Chris was very knowledgeable about the history and wildlife around the area. In addition, he took the necessary steps to ensure that the equipment we had was correct; a few days before the tour he touched base with me and took our height and weight. The only thing that I would say, is that Chris loves to talk, but he will keep you entertained throughout the trip.

We wanted to go kayaking on the Cathead Creek during Memorial Day weekend. My girlfriend and I have kayaked a couple times but we’re not experts by any means and her son was with us and had never kayaked. Chris set us up and took us on a great guided tour on the Cathead Creek, through the narrow cypress canals and back. All in all about 3 hours which was great for us. The cypress tree canals were beautiful and easy to navigate. Chris was very knowledgeable and went at our speed. He was great! Very personable and entertaining! Even with another person on the tour we felt like it was a personal guided tour (and the other person was great to be around and we all swapped pics at the end). We will definitely call Chris again and set up other trips. He’s completely open to whatever you have in mind and will recommend and put together a trip that will guarantee you have a good time and at your level. Definitely recommend!! Andrew

BEST kayaking tour on the east coast! I love that this tour makes you feel like you are paddling through a Windows screensaver...it is so BEAUTIFUL!
Altamaha conducts guided kayak tours, rents kayaks, canoes and bicycles, and provides shuttle services in the Darien area. My 84 year old mother and I took the 3 hour guided kayak trip on Cathead Creek. Chris, guide and owner, was fantastic! Neither of us had kayaked before(we did have some canoeing experience), and Chris assured me he could take us. He took excellent care of us, with special attention to make sure my mom was safe. He is knowledgeable of the area and gave us plenty of information about the water, wildlife and plants along the way. The Cathead Creek trip was beautiful! I highly recommend it or another of their trips if you're in the area.
