Really looked forward to dining here when I first arrived to Darwin. Was disappointed. I’ve been to Marco Pierre Whites and Rockpool too many times. And if you’re going to charge those prices you need to deliver that service and product. We emailed to give genuine constructive criticism and the manger said “thanks”. You’re welcome, but I’ll never return.

Located in the old Admiralty House, Char has recently been refurbished (not that I’ve been there before). Enjoyed the food immensely and the service was excellent. Do yourself and everyone you love a favor - go there!
Char is a steakhouse famous for its quality steaks and an excellent selection of wines. Very busy the night we went and quite a few people were turned away without bookings so words to the wise...book! Service was high quality, our meals came out rather quickly and the actual meals were of a very high standard indeed. Well done all around.
Great service here was bloody busy but they held themselves well. Had the prime rib. Great.
GREAT LOCATION, DELIGHTFUL ALFRESCO TABLES, GOOD SERVICE Four of us went to Char for dinner on a recent visit to Darwin. Wait staff were very well informed, options for indoor or outdoor tables and an extensive menu with a seafood feature. Fully licenced with a good wine list.
The sour dough starter seems simple but the red wine jus warm sauce that accompanies it was unexpectedly delicious. My friend had scollop starter and i had the wagyu spring rolls. For mains my friend had wagyu rump cooked beautifully and i had the fish of the day, golden snapper. It was divine! everything is delicious
A little noisy, and in this era of social distancing, tables were a little close, but the service was good and the food just great.
