The ground floor is composed by almost every masterpiece that the great artist, Johannes Vermeer, designed during his life. Unfortunately there are only around 35 paintings attributed to this Dutch Golden Age and Baroque creator. What I really loved about this museum was the merging between technology and classic used to present the genius of Vermeer's work. There are screens in many places and an audio guide which is walking you throughout a beautiful journey about this painter.

This is a must if youre into art history or into painting, even if youre not into Vermeer (hopefully this is NOT the case). The old Painters Guild of Delft is pure history, a true mecca for painters, impossible not to share a tear or two while admiring its front or his historical inside. The house is in excellent condition and the presentations are packed with information and everything is historically accurate. Nice use of technology to display loads of information about the Guild, plenty to see. Vermeer Centrum is nothing less than amazing.
Lovely place to visit They give you an audio guide and it's very helpful. Lovely to see all Vemeers paintings and then on next floor how he used light and what paints he used. Would highly recommend a visit here if you are in Delft
A good overview and you can spend more time with more details.
If you want to see Vermeer’s original works, this is NOT the place to visit. His works are at the Mauritshuis. This center has replicas of his existing works that can be viewed and, if you get the audio tour, you can get a few insights into the works. The center is child friendly and on my visit there were parents with children all enjoying the narrated your. The audio tour is available in Dutch, English, French, Spanish, German and Italian. There are mementos and books sold in the center. The exhibition takes up three floors. A very short film about him is on view and is in English and Dutch. It plays on a continuous loop. I recommend the part about his membership in the St Luke’s guild. It is interactive and you can listen to the members having a meeting.
The outdoors tour is very good. Whilst I didn't have the opportunity of going inside the centre, the map-guided tour through Delft was extremely informative and gave me a fantastic insight into Vermeer's life, from his family all the way to how his widow had to settle a debt with a baker by giving him some paintings!
Must visit place in Delft, especially nice when it's raining outside. The museum is very interesting and informative. One can clearly see how many efforts and passion were put in it by it's creators. Here you'll find out a lot about Vermeer's life and art, about history of Delft etc. They have discounts for students and free audio guides, don't forget to take one!
Great museum. Good to go visit, even with kids. No original paintings, but more explanation about the way the artist worked. When in Delft, you really must visit this museum.
