I come from the “traditional” dance world of tap, jazz, ballet, and theater dance. I have been a student of these dance forms for 38 years & have taught them for 26 years (16 of those years in my own studio). Having moved on from that, I chose flamenco as the dance form that I wanted to study & perform to express my creativity and love of dance. Not having studied flamenco before but, wanting to jump in and immerse myself completely, I knew that I would have to find not just a teacher but, a Master of the art form. I was lucky enough to find that with Maestro Rene Heredia. He listened to me when I told him of my dance background & we decided together what the best plan for my learning was and jumped in. I’ve never looked back. He pushes me to advance quicker than even I thought possible. I love how he can give you background on each of the dances he teaches and to be able to have him play as I am dancing is an invaluable gift. Being able to perform with the company is amazing. Each member’s strengths and individuality is showcased and honored. We help and encourage one another to overcome whatever may be holding us back with a particular dance or combination. To work with the other dancers and musicians is truly a gift. To study with Maestro Rene is to study with a Master.

I really enjoy being a part of Flamenco Fantasy Dance Theatre. The women in the company are very kind and supportive and Rene allows the dancer to express her or his own individuality. There are a lot of performance opportunities and Rene teaches many different forms and history of flamenco. He challenges his students and they are able to execute difficult rhythms in compass after studying with a maestro with a lot of knowledge and experience.

I have known Rene for over 30 years. His vast experience and personal friendship with many of the all time greats in Flamenco history make him a treasure of Flamenco and its grand history. He is a patient and knowledgeable teacher who can assist any student of Flamenco dance or guitar to broaden their horizons.
