Great ghost walk and tour around the Jail or is it Goal? Richard Felix is a great tour guide into the past. Ghost walk was great fun around Derby well worth the cost and they even fed us all our supper, Jacket Potatoes and mince

Interesting place to learn about Policing and crime in Derbyshire through history... was lucky to chat with some serving and retired Police officer's who had served in Derbyshire Constabulary and the former Derby Borough Police too!!

My review on derby gaol, Richard felix all these years ago advertised to have your child's birthday party at derby gaol, the party for my daughter was a total disappointment, the guide then who sorted the party, got to the gaol to start all the food prep only to find nothing there to prepare, the guide had to go out and purchase what he could, Richard felix was happy to accept the booking, nothing was provided food/drink wise as advertised but still had no choice but to pay in full. I think that is a disgrace to advertise falsely. If he still advertises children's parties at the derby gaol, I would seriously think on booking one, I would not like to think any else getting ripped off as I did

Went on the ghost tour with my friend who lives in Derby and I had an amazing time. The thing is, do not go on this expecting ghosts and banshees to start flying out and screaming 'boo'. Go into this expecting a history lesson in the most macabre spots of the town. There is a fair bit of walking involved so if that is too much for you, don't do it. We were also fed baked potatoes inside the visitor area. The room was lit only by candlelight and the fireplace which gave it an amazing atmosphere. The guide, Mr. Ed Felix, was very entertaining and was willing to share some of his own personal thoughts on the subject matter which really made it more intimate and enjoyable. If you are lucky to get him be ready for some masterful story telling. Now since you aren't guaranteed to experience anything paranormal during your trip they decide to spice things up with some 'boo' scares from costumed employees hiding in the dark during parts of the trip. I personally enjoyed it because it helped liven things up after hearing some of the gruesome tales. But in closing, the staff was fantastic, the food was satisfying, and the stories were very enjoyable. So as long as you don't expect the jail to be a sprawling complex and you come in with a love of local history you will thoroughly enjoy yourself.
