GOLDCAR ARE CON ARTISTS, it's a SCAM, AVOID AT ALL COST. I'd rate them -5 if I could! GoldCar Bilbao are THE WORST car rental service I've ever had to deal with. They try to charge you for options and additional services that you never requested and they charge you for the fuel in the car before departure and they add on that a charge for the option of returning the car with less fuel even when you specifically ask them not to. BEWARE! They force you to signe the damage report before you see the car and then they give you a car with a bunch of damages on it that's not on the damage report!!! If you put a deposit on the car, expect that they will charge you for damages at return that don't even exist on the car. And since you won't realize that until you're back home a couple of weeks later, all they care about is charging you more by any means necessary... In short, it's a CON! AVOID AT ALL COST! Use public transport if you have to, but DO NOT TAKE A CAR FROM GOLDCAR, you will absolutely regret it. (Picture of the car at pick-up)

Very shady business practice. I normally rent thru Hertz, but they didn't have a van available. I was offered a Mercedes Vito but received a Ford Transit with all kinds of damage on it. For this matter they are very intrusive on there insurance and the only way to stay out of discussion about damage that was already there is to take their Super Relax insurance. If not you will have a 2000 deductible! What a scam because this insurance will bring the rental price up 25% from the good price you got offered. The other scam is that I booked a one way rental to Bilbao and they give you a limited mileage and look at your destination. Mine was set at 1000km( this exact travel distance) and you pay 0,23 per km if you go over. So no room for a detour and also get pushed into taking out extra mileage. I was on a business trip and my clients were waiting so I opted for the extras and the rental price now had gone up 30%. It even got better when arriving in Bilbao, strange enough the Goldcar office was not at the airport together with all other rental company's! I was driving around hopeless to find it and came to found out that it was of the first exit upon leaving the airport. OMG, I arrived at the desk to find no clerk there. I was seriously getting nervous since I did not want to miss the flight with my clients(6 persons) Finally the clerk showed up and we got on a shuttle to take you to the airport. I had filled the fuel in Bilbao city but the Goldcar Service team managed to get 1 unit (1 liter) in and fined me on the 'Penalty for Full Fuel charge' for driving around finding their office. What a total scam, since they managed to double the rental price from the original agreed price. These are very shady practices and I would recommend everybody to stay away from Goldcar rental as far as possible no matter the deal they'll try to give you for you will be scammed...
Quite bad experience. When we arrived to pick up the car we didn't get much information. After they took our personal information from passports and driver's license they asked for payment from credit card. The amount was astronomical. When asked for clarification of amount they told us to accept the payment and then they will explain. We refused to do that. And told them that we already have insurance from booking web site and we don't want any extras. After a while they accepted that and made a new bill. Then before we even saw the car we had to sign the car condition document. There wasn't any damages marked, no scratches or nothing. When we got to the car we saw a lot of scratches. So we got the lady from the office to come with us and mark all the damages on the document, which we stupidly pre-signed. She didn't mark all of them because they where too small, even though clearly visible. So we had only her word for it. Overall experience bad, nobody wanted to explain anything, you really need to check and double check everything, no documents or bills and checks in English and nobody wants to clarify them, you have to ask and beg them to. Ratings is low for a reason on this one!
It is odd that these guys are getting bad reviews for using standard car hire practices. They will always take a deposit on a credit card if you don't add the security surcharge and they always hold fuel costs! It says in their terms and conditions that it can take a few weeks to get the fuel back but it was 2 days for me. I was expecting the worst but it was totally fine! And cheap !
Terrible experience... Avoid at any price, this company will scam you! We were charged 51 for a Golf for a week, seemed a bargain but then when picking up the car we had to pay massive hidden fees totalling 334. I bet Hertz would have been cheaper. Be aware that GoldCar charges you the deposit (was around 1,800 for us) unless you buy their overpriced insurance including full tank fuel at their own price. Moreover, we asked to pay in Euro (with a Euro card) and they charged us in at their own rate meaning that we paid the conversion twice plus the commission...
I didn't want to believe it but these guys are really dishonest crooks and will find some sort of way to scam you. We returned the car in a clean condition (having received it with dirt marks on inside) only to be charged a 30 cleaning fee on top of all the other costs!! This dishonesty really does leave a bad taste in the customers mouth - I highly recommend to pay a bit extra and go with company with better customer service - not these deceiving manipulative snakes !!
Avoid this place like the plague. The service is friendly, but extremely unprofessional. They never have the car you order and the insides of the car always seem dirty. You get down graded without any remorse. The staff were swearing in front of my little kids. To top it off they added extra costs to our bill and charged us more for a diesel car, but couldn't provide a petrol one. It's also a bit of a schlep to get there.
I recommend to avoid it. The staff seem friendly but they don't explain you the hidden costs. They took a deposit for fuel from me and at the end they charged me for 'fuel conversion' (no mention about it when I took the car and no one knows what it is!!), upgrade of the vehicle (which did not happen in my case). When I try to raise a complaint about it they fail to respond!!! The customer service is of no help!!
