Visited during a party or festival that involved firetrucks. Not sure what it was exactly, but there were lots of people and activities. Lots of evidence of geese as well. The buildings were largely in disrepair. People were friendly. The were some reenactors in one of the buildings. One of them was portraying a CSA soldier and he had it down pretty pat. He gave a few of us a review of some period rifles. Not uninteresting. The river is right there, so there's that.

Great family outing to learn about history. Nice grounds for the tiny budget they work with. Beautiful views of the river. The fort is a wonderful work architectural art! I saw a drone guy there last time. The view from above is so awesome.

It was closed. The guard was detailed and enthusiastic telling us about the Fort as I've been curious. I'm excited to return for an event. Love visiting our historic sites on sunny days!
