It is the national zoo of Bangladesh. There, almost all species of animals are available. The size of the zoo is quite large. It will take at least 3 to 4 hours to visit the entire zoo. So, I am advising you to bring enough time on your hand. And yes, the zoo closes at 6 p.m. So it is really good to visit in the morning or if you are visiting in the afternoon, you have to come around 3 pm.

Located in the Mirpur section of the capital city of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh National Zoo is home to more than 2,000 animals from 165 species and is a popular place to spend the day, both for Bangladeshis and international visitors. Although it is the largest and national zoo in Bangladesh but the environment is not congenial. Most of the case of animals are not take care properly.

Great place to take your kids closer to nature and give them a chance to learn more about so many different spices at a time. You will find many animals and birds there from love bird to elephant. You should have a visit there at least for one time.

Excellent place for outing. The authorities should consider the space gaps. It's too difficult for the babies and kids to cover all the areas specifically all the animals through walking. Directions towards all the animals should be mentioned at the entrance.

The necessity for establishment of Zoological garden and Botanical Gardens in the erstwhile province of East Pakistan was felt at the very inception of Pakistan in the year 1947 as there was no such garden in the province. This was receiving attention of the Government science 1947. In 1947 dire necessity of establishing a state owned zoological garden was felt. A zoo park was being started at High court premises of Dhaka with a limited number of spotted deer, monkeys and few other species of animals. A master plan was approved with a view to establish a zoological garden at Mirpur in 1960. An advisory board was constituted for establishment and proper management of zoo next year. The zoo was opened on June 23, 1974 after necessary construction and procurement of animals from home and abroad. Till then it has been gradually grown into a beautiful and attractive zoological garden exhibiting animals in natural settings using modern method of keeping. In February 05th, 2015 has been changed the name of Dhaka Zoo as Bangladesh National Zoo.
