One of the largest specialized hospital for opthalmology and eye care. It's a government owned hospital as such the costs are reasonable. However you have to wait in long queues. The place is also very crowded specially between 8 am to 2 pm when doctors consultation takes place. You have to buy tickets for consultation which is near to the reception area. There is also a information desk. Emergency services is also available at this hospital. Large parking is available at the basement of the hospital and also ample of space at the hospital compound for parking cars.

Good thing is, you can have do eye check-up for only tk.10/-. However, staff workforce including doctors need to be more skilled and dedicated in dealing with mass people. They need to have a great deal of patience. Talking about eye check-up, yesterday, I went to have check-up to know if my current prescription is ok, I felt they didn't do it sincerely. Couldn't put my trust upon them. These things need to be improved.

I am resident doctor of National Institute of Ophthalmology. This institute is a state-of-the-art in Bangladesh. It is solely dedicated to eye care. It has got dedicated departments like Cataract, Glaucoma, Vitreo retina etc to cover all the sub specialities of Ophthalmology. It has excelled both academically and in patient management. Since it is one the best and biggest teaching hospital of Ophthalmology, it is not surprising that it has got the best faculty members, Doctors, Teachers and professors. It has good parking space and prayer facility. For Doctors who are looking for a good training in Ophthalmology, NIO is a haven with hundreds of good Professors, Teachers and senior Residents. The morning session that is held at 8.00 AM is extremely interactive and educational. In short: Canteen: 1st floor (for doctors only... not very good) closes after 2 P.M. Reception: ground floor in front of the main entry Academic office and lecture gallery: 2nd floor, that can be accessed by a staircase on the right of the main entry gate where it's written Cataract clinic. Suggestions for patient: Please come very early in the morning for a better serial. Preferably before 7 AM. Maintain serial Listen to the doctors very carefully as they won't want to repeat it for the second time. Listen and read which room no. they refer you to.
