Points for a well marked trial, but the long hike to a 5/10 look off is the most bland trail I've been on. The lake is certainly very pretty, however the trail only touches the lake for literally two minutes, a wasted opportunity. Another issue is hiking shoes are most definitely recommended, I went round in sneakers, but you have to watch every single step, lots of roots and uneven ground. This is however stated on the info board at the start about the uneven terrain. For those counting steps, if you head to the look off from the car park, then down to the lake, you should get about 9000 steps, 8500 of which are pretty dull. Incidentally, late August at 1.00pm, no Mosquitos, a definite plus, very little of anything else though apart from 2 Bald Eagles in the distance over the lake.
Mostly great paths but it seems like they've added a new loop with our adding it to the maps... We got a bit turned around at the half-way point, but we made it home! Lots of Lady Slippers!
