I read the reviews after returning from Five Rivers Lodge. I just returned from there on 27 May 2017. Four nights and three days of the best fly fishing on the Big Hole and Beaverhead rivers. My son had experience fly fishing but it was my first time. I took lessons at a Orvis store prior to showing up in Dillon, Montana. While my son wanted to catch fish, I reached out for guidance. Troy and Wes helped me out a lot. They went out of their way making multiple passes in a drift boat at the Rainbow and Brown trout. My son and I caught more than our fair share of trout everyday. I pulled three browns out of a great spot in 10-15 minutes (thanks Wes). The food greatly exceeded my expectations. Coffee, muffins, and cereal at 6 a.m. with made to order eggs, bacon or sausage at 7 a.m. Drinks and Hors d'oeuvres at 6 p.m. and a five course dinner starting at 7 p.m. in the dining room (outstanding view of the snow-capped mountains). The smoked butter, smoked salt, smoked duck were excellent as was the veal (w/capers) and pork tenderloin (w/glaze and berries). For desert... homemade Carrot cake, German chocolate cake and ice cream with Huckleberries (thanks Mason). We had Ben and Jerry Cherry Garcia ice cream on the last day (Jay is working on his own recipe). The staff knows how to serve dinner and wine from the correct side of the table. It's not possible to leave the table hungry. We rolled out of the dining room stuffed. As for the negative comment someone posted years ago, it is not in disrepair. I saw no undesirable wildlife in the room or anywhere else in the lodge. The rooms (beautiful view of the mountains) were clean and the beds made daily. All the people at Five Rivers really know how to host folks. Great value, I'll be back. The photos below are a view from the dining room.

My wife and I stayed at Five Rivers Lodge midweek this past July. It was great. It was her first time fly fishing and it was a great decision to introduce her to the sport I love while at the lodge. The guides are great, the fishing has so much variety that somewhere the fishing is always on. The food, all cooked by Jay, is amazing. We fished, eat and slept in first class. It is a wonderful place.

5 Rivers Lodge deserves a solid 5 stars. Great location with fabulous food. A comfortable atmosphere, spacious rooms and a personable owner/host who really makes you feel like a guest, not just a customer. The lodge itself is located in a beautiful valley with nice views out every window. Centrally located among a wide variety of fishing opportunities so we didn’t have the long drives that I have had at other lodges. Finally, the food was the best I have ever had at a lodge. Appetizers were served in the bar/living room. Very casual and relaxing. The dinners were just great. Very creative and something to look forward to. I’m looking forward to going back.

The lodge sits amid the valley bordered by the Pioneer Mountains. If you like 6 course gourmet meals, this is the place for you. The main dining area is large enough to accommodate large groups and is clean with windows on 3 sides. Rooms are large and comfortable. The staff is friendly, courteous and attentive. The fishing is 5-Star Montana. An excellent guide staff will have you smiling all day long. The only mice I saw in my wonderful stay were computer mice. The owners are dedicated to ensuring your stay is memorable.
