Dave's guitars have a sound quality to them that stands above \store bought\. We have had friends notice whether we are playing our Ryer guitars. Even during the building process, he would demonstrate the acoustics of the body before the strings even go on. The craftsmanship that goes into this is amazing. They are beautiful and custom made to suit the player. He created a 3/4 scale fret board to make it easier for small hands to play, which was apparently the size that Kurt Cobain used. Highly recommend!

Having taken DnA Ryer Guitars course, I can tell you that you will not regret building a guitar under Dave's guidance. He is very professional and extremely patient. He helped me create my guitar the way I wanted it. It looks awesome and sounds amazing. I hope to build another with him sometime soon.

Dave, the craftsmanship and physical beauty of you guitars is only the beginning - their sound is amazing! Keep up the great work.

Dave and Ardell have an intimate and well-tooled shop that's absolutely perfect for luthier instruction. Dave's stringed instrument designs are deeply researched and his passion is clear and friendly. He's my dad, I love him, so I'm biased, but as impartially as I can: he's a very good builder of fine instruments, and is SUPER awesome to get along with.

I had some basic carpentry skills, but was concerned that i wouldn't be able to build a quality instrument. With Dave's guidance, I learned some great skills and ultimately, produced a guitar that I am very proud to say i built with my own sweat and blood. It looks and sounds better than any i've played - probably because its 100% mine. After i was finished, I realized the guitar wasn't the most important thing that I got out of this course. It was the hours of work in Dave's shop with him providing patient instruction and making sure my guitar was going to turn out great. it was the conversation and laughs that we had throughout the whole experience. I can honestly say, the hours spent in Dave's shop were some of the most enjoyable i've had. If you are thinking of doing it, you won't be disappointed.
