My father moved to Montrose care home in October last year, he was welcomed into the home after 2 hard months in hospital, following a fall and fracturing his hip. at this time he couldn't walk and was wheelchair bound, even after hospital staff tryed to get him back on his feet. the staff always greeted me and my daughter with a warm welcome and the home was always spotlessly clean. In December i was amazed as i came to visit him and he had a brand new frame, he was walking around. the staff had become a second family to him. they worked tirelessly helping my dad and all the other residents, but also taking the time to stop and interact with them, activity days, colouring, gardening etc. i liked the fact it felt homely and not clinical. He especialy enjoyed his food, when he was in hospital he lost lots of weight, after a few months at Montrose he was looking so much healthier. My dad enjoyed many happy times at the home, i also cannot thank the staff enough for battling through the covid-19 pandemic without one case of the virus in their home. they went to exceptional messures to prevent this, no staff traveling on public transport, to and from work being one of them. this wasn't just lucky, this was strategic planning executed at the most profesional level. If my father was at another home during this time he may well have just become another statistic. you guys all deserve recogniton for this. Sadly my father went on to end of life care in the last week of september 2020. This was one of the hardest times of my life, and without the help, support and kindness of all the staff and Jenny the manager, i dont know how i would have got through it. Montrose is not just an everyday care home, it is exceptional, it was a second home and also a second family for my father. a few members of the staff even came to my dads funeral to say goodbye and be there with me right to the very end. Thank you so much guys!

As a long standing member of this community and our local church I would like to pay a particular thanks to the staff at Montrose Care Home, for not only what they do every single day to give outstanding care to their residents, but to highlight the exceptional job they have done to get through the tribulations of 2020. I have been a regular visitor of the home for some 15 years (along with other local homes) and can say that Montrose is by far the most homely, caring and professional home I have ever been in. This year has thrown uncertainty amongst us all, but the dedication and love shown by every person in Montrose has been second to none! They have gone way above and beyond (as they always do) and have been free from this nasty virus from day 1. Staff have travelled 30 mile round trips to transport their colleagues every morning and night to avoid public transport, and have stayed in the building to support one another. Montrose has supported its residents from day one of lockdown and shown incredible community spirit in reaching out to loved ones far and near. I have continued to visit in their garden in a set up which makes me feel extremely safe! Their residents are ALWAYS happy, well dressed, smiling and complimentary about the home, the staff are always smiling regardless, and I can say with my hand on my heart that there is no home that would even ‘almost’ meet the level of exceptional care that Montrose continues to meet every single day.
We recently visited to consider this place for my father on standing outside I was put off , curtains hanging from rails shabby building etc on being treated at the door the overbearing smell was awful then we were shown to the available room which was disgusting I don’t know how they’re getting away with it !
