Doulas of Chicago holds a special place in my heart. As a first time mom, I was terrified of giving birth and had no clue what to expect. I decided I wanted to learn as much as possible before the big day. My husband and I took a personal birthing class with Ariel which I highly recommend for new parents. The class was tailored to our needs and was a safe space to ask questions. This class was much more informational than the hospital one. I also used Doulas of Chicago for their doula services. I was paired with Sam and Adriana who are both wonderful, passionate and caring ladies. Sam was our doula the day my daughter arrived and man, we couldn’t of done it without her! She came prepared with flameless candles and essential oils which created a calming space for labor. When it came to pushing, she was there to hold up one of my legs, giving me water during the resting phases, and full of encouragement to keep me going. She was a big support for my husband by reminding him to drink water, take a snooze while she watched me, and suggest tips on how to best comfort me. I can’t thank Sam enough for all that she did. She is forever part of my birthing story. :)
