This is a little gem of a museum. I have been here several times over the years. The staff is really knowledgeable and helpful. A fun place to stop with kids of any age. I know museum funding is tight, but they do a really nice job with whatever budget that they have. It’s a good way to kill a couple of hours especially that kids are doing homeschooling do to the pandemic to get them out of the house. Like a little field trip. Quite enjoyable.

Kent County is known for its agricultural history, and the Delaware Agricultural Museum in Dover is where you can learn all about this history and the impression it has left on the local culture. Some of the items showcased in the exhibits at this museum include artifacts, photos, documents, and agricultural-related machinery such as tractors and traditional farming equipment. You’ll also learn about the railway and the role it played in the industry. There is a village depicting rural life in the late 1800s. This is where you can see an old barn, windmill, general store, farmhouse, schoolhouse, train station, church, barbershop, and blacksmith shop.

The museum is decorated for Christmas now and is quite beautiful. The display is both indoors and outdoors and due to the size of the building social distancing is easy. Temperature checks are done upon entering. Decorations usually stay up until the second week of January.

Spent this afternoon helping warp the big loom for demonstration this weekend. Farmers Christmas is its usual success despite the differences this year has brought. Check online for tickets for this last weekend of the special music, demonstrations & crafts for kids. Enjoy!
