Was actually in a field next door for work and had some time to kill so walked over and just looked around. Grounds are very well maintained as is the house and overall without taking the tour they offer it seemed to be well worth the time to check out. Definetly gonna visit when I have more time

The historic John Dickinson Plantation in Dover was once the home of John Dickinson, who was one of the founding fathers of the United States. Visitors can roam the grounds on their own or take a guided tour with costumed tour guides. During a tour of the property, you will also get to see the inside of the stately Poplar Hall, where you will see a number of exhibits and galleries and get a taste of what life must have been like in post-Revolution times.

Note: Covid restrictions made the experience much worse than it otherwise might have been. The only thing open was the barn where I saw a 10-minute film and read a few placards. The grounds were open to view outside but otherwise that was all I was able to do.

I grew up in Delaware but had never been here for a tour. It was an awesome tour. The tour guides were terrific especially young Tyler.

An interesting place to visit, but I would not make a special trip to Dover for a visit. The property is well cared for with beautiful lawns and well maintained buildings. There is a lot to be learned about John Dickinson who many of us do not realize his impact on the creation of the United States. We were there in early August after many days of rain so to truly enjoy the grounds insect repellant was needed.
