My husband and I stayed nearby over a weekend in October. It was easy to book a tour, as opposed to other places in the area at the time. Our tour guide was terrific (I wish I could remember his name...Stanley, maybe?) and he answered all my questions and even gave us an extended tour. Either the Women's Suffrage exhibit or the taxidermy room was my favorite...or the cabin! Bring cash because you'll want to donate to this awesome and unique museum!

I've been here many times over the years, my latest excursion was for the middle school art show. My daughter had some pieces in it. This is a great spot to see the oldest house in New Hampshire, some unique ephemera and pieces from the area, as well as learning about the great local history. If you are at all interested in history this should be a stop for you. If you have absolutely no interest in history it's still worth stopping in just for the experience.
First time at the museum, had a fantastic time. So much to see and learn. The Garrison house was my favorite. Great for any age. An absolute must see if you are in Dover!
I took my 7 year old son to the Woodman and we had a fantastic time! He loved the Polar Bear and the incredible bird collection. He also had a lot of questions about the weaponry from each war. The museum was packed with amazing artifacts and our guide, Paul was so knowledgeable. Even more, Paul was conscious of my 7 year olds short attention span and cattered the tour to keep him engaged. Paul was great! I'm definitely going back soon and I look forward to the seeing the Woodman decorated for Christmas which I hear is beautiful!
What a strange collection of objects. Definitely worth seeing the Garrison. It will take some time to see all of it.
