Pathways Awarua supports adult learners in New Zealand to strengthen their numeracy and reading skills. Developed in partnership with the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) as part of the infrastructure to strengthen the literacy and numeracy competencies and skills of adult New Zealanders. It comprises a series of over 400 interactive and engaging modules of increasing difficulty for learners to explore and complete at their own pace, and at times and places that suit them. Each module has customised feedback, learners can track their progress and gain certificates along the way. Learners are able to select between general, trade or service versions of the numeracy and reading pathways. Two additional pathways have recently been developed. One in collaboration with the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA), to help learners understand the content for their NZ driver licences, while at the same time strengthening their literacy and numeracy competencies. And a second pathway in Health & Safety, in collaboration with WorkSafe NZ and the Industry Training Federation (ITF), to help people keep themselves and others healthy and safe. Learners can now learn anywhere, anytime. The modules have been optimised for smartphone use. The offline apps for each pathway can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play giving more learning opportunities to users.
