Lovely walk from Osborne House down to the beach through the champion trees. Café by the beach serves good coffee and great cakes, sandwiches also available. Walk back up the rhododendron walk and visit the Swiss Chalet then wonderful oblique views of the house and gardens.

Wonderful view, small beach and so peaceful with woodland behind you. Can fully understand why the queen loved it so much here. I did too.

If you are interested in a little bit more of royal Victorian history then look into Queen Victoria’s bathing machine and seaside retreat at Orbourne House on the Isle of Wight. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert built the house in the Italian Renaissance-style palazzo in 1845. It offered all the fun any family could want from a holiday escape. The bathing machine is on the beach and is very well maintained.
