Did everything on line- drove for an hour to get to the airport to be told they need the card again after processing the payment on line...last story short left without a car a 2 hours of my time gone.... useless is an understatement. Last time I use you. keep up the poor attitude- let see how that works out in the end.

Booked everything online and was advised i can collect the car on the specified date. On the invoice it clearly states 'Pay at location: 0'. To me that means what is says. I even checked in online with no additional advisements. When I got to the counter they started haggling with me over additional costs. I was advised that the amount I paid required an unreasonably large deposit for insurance, unless I pay an additional 120% of the agreed sum for some thing called 'super cover' where the deposit is reduced to a reasonable level. The manager even bragged that they get overseas visitors that pay over a 100 grand deposit on their credit cards, which informs nothing about reasonableness. This was likely also for an executive luxury car and therefore just dishonest. Luckily I am privileged enough to have alternative payment options, but now i have to wait days to clear an absolutely massive block on my credit card. These costs are not in the same realm of reality even with the most bloated vehicle finance, maintenance and insurance risk calculations against the vehicle provided and duration of rental. I gave 2 stars as the vehicle was in good order and clean, which is the bare minimum expected. What i don't expect is to be held at ransom of having my family stranded following a finalised and paid on-line booking.

I would like to thank the Hertz staff at East London airport for their efficiency help, kindness when my son rented a car for the weekend of the 29th Dec. I would also like to thank Carmen from the call center for her assistance and helpfulness when I was booking the vehicle. We will definitely make use of Hertz again
